Empoli vs Roma Prediction

Empoli will search for salvation points on the final day of the season. They host non-motivated Roma on Sunday evening at Stadio Carlo Castellani. The hosts are currently inside the bottom three in the Serie A standings. However, they are at the same time just three points shy of Cagliari in 15th place.

Empoli desperately need a win for a chance to secure the top-flight status.
Roma have nothing to play for on the final day.
Four of Empoli’s previous five league matches ended with fewer than two goals scored.
Empoli have never been a serious opposition to Roma. The Romans won each of the previous eight encounters against them.
Roma demolished Empoli 7-0 in the return game played in September last year in the capital.

Roma secured the 6th-place finish with a 1-0 victory over Genoa seven days ago. They now can’t move from this position with just one game remaining. The Romans will cheer for Atalanta to finish 5th. In this case Italy would receive another place in the next season of the UEFA Champions League. It would go to Roma.

Empoli shared spoils with Udinese in a relegation six-pointer last weekend. They grabbed a precious lead in the 90th minute only to concede the equalizer in the 14th minute of stoppage time.

Motivation will represent the decisive factor in this match. Empoli have the elite-class status to play for while Roma can’t move from 6th position regardless of the happenings on the final day. Neither team have been particularly impressive of late.
