Belarus vs Romania Prediction & Match Preview

Romania will continue their push for the 2024 EURO in Germany on Thursday evening when they visit Budapest for the neutral venue clash against Belarus in Matcdhay No 7 of Group I.

The Romanians are one of two unbeaten teams in the section as they’ve won and drawn three games each so far in the campaign.

However, they are still only a single point above third-placed Israel, meaning there are no room for mistakes in the upcoming two outings against the likes of Belarus and Andorra in October.

Eduard Iordanaescu’s troops picked up a massive three-pointer in the previous round, beating ten-man Kosovo 2-0 on the home soil thanks to a couple of late goals from Nicolae Stanciu and Valentin Mihaila.

Iordanaescu can be thrilled with his team’s defensive showings since the start of the campaign and especially in September’s outings as Romania shipped only a single goal in the fixtures against Israel and Kosovo.

We fancy the visitors to continue their fine defensive form on Thursday against Belarus who have found the goals hard to come by since the start of the qualifying process.

The hosts share the penultimate place in the group with four points from six games. They’ve lost four in the process, scoring no more than four goals along the way.

Belarus will also play against tradition here as they lost four and drew two of the last six meetings with Romania.

The Romanians picked up a 2-1 victory in the return game played in March this year on their soil.

Romania bagged at least two goals in five of the last six outings against Belarus.

The Verdict

Romania can ill afford a slip-up here. We expect them to prevail on Thursday knowing how motivated they’ll be to clinch three points against a team that have already been eliminated in this group.
