Atletico Madrid seemed to be on their way to start the season with a win but they conceded two late goals to lose 1-2 at the hands of Espanyol in the opening round last weekend.

It was an uninspiring performance in general from Diego Simeone’s lads. The Argentinean manager gave team debuts to recent additions Thiago Almada and Alex Baena.

Simeone’s men also looked tough to break down in the preseason despite facing the likes of Porto and Newcastle.
