Poland lock horns with Russia for a friendly on Tuesday, both teams looking for a morale boosting win after a disappointing run of results in the international window in March.
Paulo Sousa, the new national team manager of Poland had a difficult start at the helm with his team returning from March round of World Cup qualifiers with just 1 win.
That win came against the lower ranked Moldova by convincing 3-0 scoreline. But the team were held to a 3-3 draw by Hungary 3 days ago and then suffered a 2-1 defeat at England.
Russia on the other hand had easier fixtures in March. They did struggle against Malta and the ft scoreline of 3-1 washed off their troubles in the second half against a lowly ranked side.
Artem Dzyuba then inspired a 2-1 win over Slovenia but their indifferent form finally came to beat them 3 days after in the form of a 1-2 defeat at Slovakia.
Russia had a torrid time in the final rounds of Nation’s League as well. They lost 0-5 to Serbia, 2-3 to Turkey before goal-less draw to Hungary and a reverse 1-1 draw against Turkey.
The teams met just 4 time since 1996 and share a win each and 2 draws.
Latest of which came during the final group game of Euro 2012 in Poland where they settled for a 1-1 draw and got eliminated from the competition.
It is worth to note that Russia have scored in each of those four meetings and Poland in all except the first.
A positive result is important for both managers and players as well with confidence at stake heading into a continental competition.
Therefore expect a high intensity game Miejski stadium on Monday.
Even though the full-time result is too tight to call , we can confidently back the both teams to score bet with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Artem Dzyuba back in the squad.
Also, Poland have scored in 9 of their previous 11 home games across all competitions while Russia netted at least once in 12 of their 14 games as a travelling side.
