Poland vs Austria
Euro 2020 Qualification
Date: Monday, 09 September 2019
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Narodowy (Warsaw).
Midway through the Qualifiers, Poland are still at the top of Group G despite 0-2 loss in Ljubljana on Friday. Slovenia looked sharper and they managed to shut down lethal duo Lewandowski – Piatek up front and got back into contention for the second place.
Prior to that defeat, Poland had four wins to their name. They will look to go back to winning ways when they host Austria on Monday. These two sides met in Round 1, and Poland won the tie 1-0.
Austria will travel to Warsaw in high spirits after brilliant 6-0 win over Latvia that moved them to 2nd place. Now they are three points behind Poland and narrowly ahead of Slovenia and Israel.
They lost first two games in March, but bounced back with three victories and will be hoping to continue their good run of form when they take on the leaders.
Poland looked rather harmless against Slovenia, struggled to generate chances despite having more of the possession. At home, they’re far more dangerous and I expect them to bag a goal or two.
Austria are hot and cold, inconsistent, capable of pulling upsets here and there, but they can also implode at any time. That’s why I will stay away from the 1X2 market and focus on goals instead.
Both sides have in-form strikers. Robert Lewandowski has scored six goals in three Bundesliga games, while Marko Arnautovic bagged two against Latvia (six in last four matches for NT) and also netted four in five games for his new club, Shanghai SIPG.
