Colombia have made a slow start to their campaign, and now are desperate to post points on the board. Since they are pitted against the struggling Peru, over whom they have a great h2h record, expect a Colombian victory this Friday.
As of now, Peru are placed second to last in the table, and are yet to deliver a win this campaign. In fact, barring a single draw, they have a 100% losing record. They have also scored the second-least number of goals, and have conceded the second-most.
They are on a long dismal run at home, and and are conceding goals in huge numbers in such matches over the past few years.
Meanwhile, Colombia are a usual contender to finish in the top-five in the World Cup Qualifiers from the CONMEBOL region. However, this time around they have made a slow start, and as of now, they are placed seventh in the table.
They did have some tough fixtures right away at the beginning of the tournament, and it has seriously affected their position in the table.
They need to get back on the track, and this upcoming game is a great opportunity to do that. They do have a good h2h record against this foe over the years, and disregarding the earlier-mentioned tough match-ups, the team was on form.
Likely, expect the determined Colombia to post the three points, against the out-of-form Peru.
Peru are on a three-game losing run, and they were winless in 11 of their preceding 13 fixtures. They had conceded two or more goals in their last four straight matches, and they have lost all but one appearance at home since 2019.
On the other hand, their counterparts were unbeaten in 25 of their last 30 overall fixtures, and they have lost just four times on the road in the last four-year period.
Finally, Peru also have a poor h2h record against this rival over the years.
Taking into account these observations, expect a Colombia victory this Friday.
