PAOK Thessaloniki FC vs Ajax Amsterdam
Champions League Qualification

Kick-off at 18:00 UK / 19:00 CET
Venue: Toumba Stadium (Thessaloniki).
Ajax certainly made headlines with their performance in the previous edition of the Champions League, where they went as far as the semi-finals with a fairly youthful and inexperienced squad.
The Dutch giants did sign off their campaign in style though, with the Eredivisie trophy safely in their cabinet. Despite the transfer window hitting them hard, with a few of their notable names leaving the roster, the squad have not shown any signs of slowing down, and have already clinched the Super Cup with a very convincing performance.
PAOK Thessaloniki FC had a fine domestic campaign themselves and were crowned as the champions with a five-point advantage in hand. They were unbeaten throughout the season and failed to come out on top on just four occasions.
However, a big question mark looms large over whether they will be able to keep their winning streak intact as they welcome the dominant Eredivisie champions to their midst on Tuesday.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last twelve games here and have won with a clean sheet in five of their previous six.
However, Ajax themselves have been tasting nothing but success in their last seven trips on the road, in all competitions, one of which was against the eventual runners-up of the previous edition, Tottenham.
Additionally, PAOK Thessaloniki’s only loss to this side was at this very same venue three years ago. Given that Ajax are a much more competent and experienced side, the win is more than likely to swing in favor of the Dutch outfit at the end of the ninety minutes.
The home team amassed sixty-six goals in the bag in their previous domestic campaign, more than half of which came from their clashes on home soil. Furthermore, neither side were able to keep a clean sheet in their previous two meetings at this venue either.
Considering that PAOK Thessaloniki also scored fourteen goals in their last five home games alone, a high scoring clash, involving both teams on the scorecards, is definitely in the reckoning.
