Panathinaikos vs Dnipro-1 Prediction & Match Preview

Steffen Schmidt - July 30, 2023

Panathinaikos vs SC Dnipro-1
UEFA Champions League Qualification
Date: 1 August 2023, Tuesday
Kick-off at 18:30 UK / 19:30 CET
Venue: Stadio Apostolos Nikolaidis (Athens).

Panathinaikos gained a huge advantage from the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie against SC Dnipro-1, beating the Ukrainians 1-3 on the neutral venue in Kosice, Slovakia.

The Greek outfit showed an amazing efficiency, netting three goals from as many shots on target seven days ago.

Moreover, three attacking-minded players were on target on the occasion, including Andraz Sporar, Filip Djuricic, and Fotis Ioannidis.

SC Dnipro-1 only managed to find a late consolation goal last Tuesday through substitute Volodymyr Tanchyk in the 90th minute of the match.

Panathinaikos generally have a very strong attacking line and they have already shown their quality by beating the likes of CSJA 1948 Sofia and AEK Larnaca in exhibitions this summer.

PAO will have a huge support from their fans on Tuesday in Athens and we can only expect them to offer an even better performance in the return leg.

As for Dnipro, they have revealed defensive holes in the final preseason check, allowing two goals in a disappointing stalemate to Kryvbas two weeks ago.

Panathinaikos do not forgive errors in defense and will not be surprised to see the visitors making them again, this time on the road.

We also must praise Panathinaikos’ fine defensive form as their back line looked pretty solid in the clashes against CSKA Sofia, AEK Larnaca, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, and Rayo Vallecano in preseason friendlies this summer.

Panathinaikos vs Dnipro-1 Head-to-head

  • This will only be the second head to head meeting between Panathinaikos and Dnipro.
  • Their first encounter finished in PAO’s 1-3 win on the neutral venue in Slovakia seven days ago.

Panathinaikos vs Dnipro-1 Prediction

The quality is obviously on Panathinaikos’ side and we expect the Greeks to confirm it on the pitch in front of the home fans on Tuesday afternoon. Since we did not see much from Dnipro in the final third seven days ago, the main pick is Panathinaikos to win to nil at the odds of 2.62.

You can alternatively go with the hosts to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at the odds of 2.40.

Panathinaikos vs Dnipro-1 Betting Tips

  • Panathinaikos to win to nil @ 2.62 (13/8)
  • HT/FT Panathinaikos/Panathinaikos @ 2.40 (7/5) odd.
