Steffen Schmidt - August 24, 2023
Paderborn vs Kaiserslautern
German 2. Bundesliga
Date: 25 August 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 17:30 UK / 18:30 CET
Venue: Home Deluxe Arena (Paderborn).
Paderborn and Kaiserslautern will go into their Matchday No 4 clash on Friday afternoon with an improved confidence after grabbing their maiden wins of the season last weekend.
Paderborn somehow found a way to survive a tough trip to Fortuna Dusseldorf, clinching a 1-2 victory despite facing 26 shots last Saturday. The corner stats were 12-1 in Fortuna’s favor which says enough about the happenings on the pitch on the occasion.
Paderborn have already shown their defensive woes on the opening day by allowing five goals in a demolishing away loss at Greuther Furth.
Kaiserslautern have not been much better defensively either, shipping at least two goals in each of three league fixtures so far in the campaign.
The run includes the last week’s 3-2 win over Elversberg at Fritz Walter Stadion where the newly-promoted outfit registered 21 shots towards Kaiserslautern’s goal.
Nonetheless, the team led vy Dirk Schuster still managed their first win of the season on the back of substitute Ragnar Ache who bagged his second goal of the season seven days ago. Jean Zimmer added a goal and an assist on the occasion as well.
We have a lot of reasons to expect the low-scoring trend in H2H clashes between these counterparts to be stopped on Friday. Neither team looks good defensively, we can hardly see either keeping things quiet at the back at this stage of the season.
Both teams to score is our main betting option at the odds of 1.53 while you can alternatively take the attractive 1.80 odds offered for the visitors to avoid a defeat. Paderborn have not shown enough for us to take such low odds for their win against any team in the league at the moment.
