Oxford United vs Plymouth Argyle
English League One
Date: Saturday, 13 October 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: The Kassam Stadium (Oxford).
Bottom two sides of League One standings are set to come across each other on Saturday afternoon at The Kassam Stadium. Interestingly, both teams will enter the game in high spirits following last weekend results.
The U’s held the in-form Southend Utd to a goalless draw away at Roots Hall Stadium, ending the Shrimpers’ three-win streak there. Can Karl Robinson’s men back up such result and stay undefeated here against the Pilgrims? Oxford United were previously on a four-loss thread in League One.
Plymouth Argyle took just three points from ten opening games of the new season. The Scottish manager Derek Adams had his job well on the line for the first time since 2015 when he took charge. Nevertheless, they showed a tremendous fighting spirit to claw back from such crisis and pick up four points from last two rounds.
The Pilgrims significantly improved their defensive performances of late. They shipped just one goal in last two games against Barnsley (1-1 draw away from home) and AFC Wimbledon (1-0 win at home). It was striker Freddie Ladapo who made the difference against the Dons last weekend, bagging only his second goal of the season for the Pilgrims.
The U’s also showed huge improvements at the back holding the Shrimpers to a goalless draw seven days ago. Given the match has a massive importance for both managers as the losing team would stay at the very foot of the league ladder, we don’t see way too many scoring chances on the occasion.
