Orlando City and New York Red Bulls will lock horns in one of the most exciting games of the opening Matchday on the 2023 MLS season.
Both outfits featured the last year’s playoffs and both teams have high ambitions going into the new campaign.
Orlando City have new appetites after winning their inaugural major trophy last season, claiming the US Open Cup silverware.
Head coach Oscar Pareja has an exciting group of players in his ranks and it will be very interesting to see where they will end up in the 2023 campaign.
The preseason did not look great for Orlando City as Pareja’s troops allowed two goals in three of the previous four friendlies.
They fell 1-2 to New England Revolution in the last weekend’s final preseason exhibition.
New York Red Bulls, on the other side, looked much more impressive during their offseason schedule, picking up four consecutive wins without conceding a single goal in the process.
Tom Barlow bagged both of the team’s goals in the last weekend’s 2-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes.
Austrian manager Gerhard Struber can be pleased with the team’s defensive showings in the recent friendlies. It will be very interesting to see how the stern NY Red Bulls back line will cope with Orlando’s exciting offensive unit on Saturday.
Orlando City have done well in the latest set of the H2H clashes with New York Red Bulls but the visitors look ready to grind ahead of the new season. We are impressed by their defensive performances in the offseason.
The away win looks super-attractive at the 3.20 odds. We will alternatively go for the Under 2.5 goals FT bet at the 1.72 odds knowing that none of NY’s last four preseason affairs offered three or more goals.
