Qatar sit at the top of Group F and need a point against Oman to finish as group winners on Monday.
The Qataris had to sweat hard to beat India 1-0 despite having a man advantage for 65 minutes of the match. However the three points helped them to cement their place at the top of the group and avoid a defeat in their final group game against Oman will help them win the group irrespective of remaining results.
It is worth noting that Qatar has already played 7 and have 19 points in the bag. Their opponent Oman is second in the table but they played 2 games less and will meet the likes of Bangladesh and Afghanistan to wrap up the proceedings.
If Oman win here, they then are in a good position to finish as group winners, provided they win their next 2 games.
While there is no doubt that Qatar are one of the most consistent sides in Asia, their performance in the final third of matches have been disappointing lately.
If they can fine tune this aspect of their game, I do see them easing past Oman on Monday. Having said that, it will be extremely difficult to score past the Qataris, their defensive unit conceding just 1 goal from 7 games in the campaign.
So, Qatar to win is my primary pick and if their front line can find the precision, there will be plenty of goals at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.
