Olimpia Asuncion vs Flamengo
CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores
Date: 11 August 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 01:00 UK / 02:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Defensores del Chaco (Asuncion).
Flamengo have a slender 1-0 lead going into the second leg of their Copa Libertadores R16 tie against Olimpia Asuncion on Thursday evening at Estadio Defensores del Chaco.
Bruno Henrique made the difference between the two sides seven days ago. The match itself offered a full dominance by the Brazilian outfit who did not allow their counterparts a single shot on target in the 90 minutes of play.
Nevertheless, the tie is still wide open with just one goal separating the teams ahead of the rematch in Paraguay.
On a positive note for Olimpia, they’ve terminated their six-game winless thread with a 5-3 victory over Club Guarani in the weekend’s Division Profesional action.
It was the maiden win of the Clausura campaign in the domestic league for Olimpia who had earlier claimed just one point in the inaugural four rounds.
Nevertheless, we must say that Olimpia Asuncion have been very difficult to break down in the group stage of Copa Libertadores, shipping only four goals in six outings against Atletcio Nacional, Patronato, and Melgar.
Flamengo, on the other side, ended their eleven-game unbeaten thread with a shocking 3-0 defeat to Cuiaba on Sunday night.
We, however, have to mention that head coach Jorge Sampaoli did leave some of his main stars on the bench at the weekend, with an eye on this Copa Libertadores rematch on Thursday.
Flamengo left a much better impression seven days ago at Estadio Maracana and we expect them to justify the favorites’ tag in the reverse game and pick up another victory over the Paraguayan opposition.
We also see the value in backing the Under 2.5 goals FT bet at the 1.90 odds knowing how tough both outfits have been in the group phase of the competition.
