Peter Green - April 9, 2019
Nurnberg vs Schalke
Germany – Bundesliga
Date: Friday, 12th April 2019
Kick-off at 19.30 UK/ 20.30 CET
Venue: Max-Morlock-Stadion (Nuremberg).
Schalke used to be a major presence in the top tier of the German league in previous seasons, but this time around, with six games to go, the team is struggling to stay alive in the competition. They are the second to last safe team as of now in the table, and sides below them have stepped up their game.
Nurnberg has a mountain to climb if they are to see a minute in the next edition of the Bundesliga. All season they have secured just 17 points, and they have to overcome a deficit of eight points from the next six match-days. They do have the confidence of being unbeaten in the last two league fixtures though.
Schalke does have the experience of dealing with high-pressure situations, and on the basis of their stature, has the upper hand in this tie. They have relegation in their radar and will have to do the needful in the next six fixtures at any cost. The fact that they are taking on one of the worst teams in the competition at the moment, will provide them confidence.
Moreover, Schalke won the last three h2h encounters and scored three or more goals in all of it. In addition, they are unbeaten at this venue since 2013. Importantly, Nurnberg was winless in 19 of their last 21 match-ups.
On the basis of these observations, Schalke should take the three points, but this season they have been very disappointing. So, to be on the safe side, we will go with the DNB.
Going on, Nurnberg is desperate. They are almost out of the league, with just a ray of hope. Expect the toughest of fights from them. Furthermore, they have found the back of the net in six of their last eight home ties. The BTTS provides good value if backed.
