Steffen Schmidt - March 30, 2023
Nottingham Forest vs Wolves
English Premier League
Date: 1 April 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: The City Ground (Nottingham).
Nottingham Forest and Wolves are separated by only one point down in the relegation scrap, meaning we should have all the ingredients for a six-pointer on Saturday afternoon at The City Ground.
Neither outfit will come into the tie on a high following recent displays and results and it will be very interesting to see which one will bounce back in such an important affair.
Nottingham Forest have experienced a big slide in form of late. They have claimed just two points in the last six league rounds.
Steve Cooper’s men have suddenly lost the defensive solidity even in the games at The City Ground where they have been pretty tough to break down throughout the season.
The Reds conceded at least two goals in each of the previous four league affairs, including the previous round’s 1-2 defeat at the hands of Newcastle in Nottingham.
Wolves have not been any better defensively of late themselves. They shipped six goals in the back-to-back losses to Newcastle and Leeds.
Head coach Julen Lopetegui was furious with his players for their terrible defensive reactions in a 2-4 defeat at the hands of direct relegation rivals Leeds two weeks ago at Molineux Stadium.
Wolves generally own a poor away record with 2 wins, 4 draws, and 8 defeats in 14 league games on the road and it is hard to be optimistic regarding their chances at The City Ground regardless of Nottingham Forest’s form.
Despite both outfits being pretty easy to break down of late, we can hardly imagine a high-scoring scenario in this contest. The stakes are too big for both teams whose managers have certainly worked on fixing the defensive holes during the international break.
The Under 2.5 goals FT is the primary betting option at the 1.57 odds. Since we do not expect either team/manager to take unnecessary risks in the early stages of the affair, the draw at the half time looks a decent pick at the 2.00 odds.
