Steffen Schmidt - August 18, 2023
Norwich vs Millwall
English Championship
Date: 20 August 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 12:00 UK / 13:00 CET
Venue: Carrow Road (Norwich).
Norwich and Millwall will close the third round of the Championship on Sunday with their noon clash at Carrow Road.
Both teams were victims to last-gasp strikes last weekend. Norwich dropped two points away at St. Mary’s Stadium by conceding a 97th-minute penalty-kick goal in a staggering 4-4 stalemate at Southampton.
It was an open match packed with chances at both end as the Canaries revealed plenty of holes at the back, allowing the rivals as many as 32 attempts, 12 of which went on target.
On the bright side, the offensive part of the team did an excellent job on the occasion, namely Gabriel Sara and Joshua Sargent, each of whom ended the game with a goal and an assist.
David Wagner’s men now have four points from the opening two rounds of the season and they will come into this tie in higher spirits compared to the counterparts.
Millwall showed nothing of Norwich’s attacking display last weekend, registering only a single attempt on target in the 90 minutes of play in their disappointing0-1 defeat to Bristol City at The Den.
The Lions are clearly nowhere near their best form at the moment, scoring just one goal in three competitive games this term, a run that involves a 0-4 catastrophe against Reading in the opening round of the League Cup.
If we count preseason friendlies, Millwall have three defeats in the last four matches, three of which were competitive. Norwich have shown a much better form, especially in attack, at the start of the season.
The home win is the way to go at the 2.00 odds while you can get the same odds for backing the Canaries to bag two or more goals on Sunday.
