Norway vs Turkey Prediction & Match Preview

Aron Wright - March 25, 2021

Norway vs Turkey
World Cup Qualification
Date: Saturday, 27 March 2021
Kick-off at 17:00 UK/ 18:00 CET
Venue: Ullevål Stadion.

These two teams along with Netherlands are deemed to be the favorites of the group. However, only two spots are available for qualification, and that too only the top-most team would be able to secure direct entry into the World Cup.

Likely, there’s high chance that there will be a race for the first position between these three squads towards the end of the campaign, and on that account, a win this weekend is supremely important for either of these squads.

The Lions have begun their journey with a win, and they seem determined to make full use of the talented young players they have at their disposal.

They had missed out on qualification to the 2018 World Cup, and they are adamant that nothing of that sorts would happen anymore.

Moreover, they were placed in League C in the inaugural UNL, and with some truly mesmerizing performances, they secured an entry into League B.

In the 2020-21 edition, they narrowly missed out on the first position in their group, or they could have waged their battles in the top-most League A the next time around.

They had also missed out on qualification to both 2016 as well as 2021 Euros, and that two after appearing in the playoffs. After several near-misses, they are dead set on securing a ticket to the World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Crescent-Stars had qualified to the 2016 Euros, and in the Qualifiers for the 2021 Euros, they had delivered an amazing campaign.

Despite being in the same group as France, they remained unbeaten in both games against them, and all through the tournament, they had lost just once.

Going on, majority of h2h clashes over the years have had goals from both teams as well.

For the reasons, expect a high-scoring thriller between these two determined and in-form squads.

Norway vs Turkey: Head-to-head (h2h)

  • Since 1961, only one encounter has failed to have goals from both teams.
  • In the past six decades, barring two meetings, every other ones have had three or more goals.
  • Not once have Stale Solbakken’s men kept a clean sheet at home.
  • The latest overall clash had ended in a 1-2 win for Senol Gunes’s men.

Norway vs Turkey Prediction

The Lions had recorded a 0-3 win on the road the last match-day, against Gibraltar. In the meantime, the Crescent-Stars had registered a 4-2 win at home against group favorites, Netherlands.

Going on, Solbakken’s men were unbeaten in 15 of their last 17 overall matches, and at home, they have lost just once since 2016.

In the process, they had also gone on a seven-match winning run, and the last they failed to score at home was five years back against Germany.

On the other hand, their opposite number had scored two or more goals in four of their former five match-ups, and they have lost just thrice on the road in the past four-year period.

Furthermore, most of the h2h meetings over years have had goals in plenty too.

By the looks of things, expect a goal-fest this weekend at the Ullevål Stadion.
