Norway vs Philippines
FIFA Women’s World Cup
Date: 30 July 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 08:00 UK / 09:00 CET
Venue: Eden Park (Auckland).
Norway will be hoping to finally bag their maiden goal at the 2023 World Cup in Australia/New Zealand on Sunday when they take on the Philippines in the last game of the group phase.
The European outfit disappointed their fans heavily with the inaugural 1-0 defeat to co-hosts New Zealand before failing to break the deadlock in the second-round tie against Switzerland.
Nevertheless, it is worth noting that the Scandinavians offered a much better performance overall in the second game, creating numerous chances in front of the rivaling goal five days ago.
Norway can still advance to the knockout phase but to do so, they will need to beat the Philippines on Sunday.
The Asians bagged their historical inaugural World Cup goal on Tuesday when they dispatched New Zealand in Gameweek 2.
The Philippines offered a fantastic defensive showing on the occasion to deservedly claim their maiden win in the history of the competition.
The team that made it to the AFC Asian Cup semifinal had earlier lost 0-2 to Switzerland on their debut at the FIFA World Cup.
The Philippines can potentially advance with a draw here but they will need to dig deep to secure one against the highly-motivated Norwegians at Eden Park in Auckland.
We should also say that Norway are winless in six straight matches across competitions but they have faced the likes of France, Spain, and Sweden in recent friendlies along the way, losing just one of these three outings.
Norway possess much more quality in their ranks and we believe they have what it takes to dispatch the Philippines on Sunday and advance to the last 16 round of the competition. The experience is also on the Europeans’ side as they have reached the quarterfinal of the previous World Cup while their counterparts are only making their debut on the biggest stage this year.
The main bet is Norway to win by three or more goals difference at the 2.05 odds while we also like the 2.00 odds offered for the Scandinavians to win both halves here.
