New England vs DC United
USA MLS
Date: 16 July 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 00:30 UK / 01:30 CET
Venue: Gillette Stadium (Foxborough).
New England Revolution returned to winning ways on Wednesday evening when they dispatched Atlanta United 2-1 at home in the Eastern Conference derby.
The Revs got off to a flying start with two goals inside the opening nine minutes of the affair as striker Giacomo Vrioni and midfielder Carles Gil starred on the occasion.
Gil is now the joint-top scorer and the joint-top assister in the team with seven goals and four assists.
It was the fourth win in the last six league outings for Bruce Arena’s men who have climbed to the second place in the Eastern Conference table as a consequence.
The Revs will be chasing their fifth consecutive home win on Saturday evening when they host another Eastern Conference rival DC United.
DC have improved drastically from the last season’s rock-bottom finish on the East. They are currently on the brink of the playoffs positions, sitting four points below Orlando City in seventh place.
The Black and Red have won two of the last four league outings but they will go into this off the back of a disappointing 2-2 stalemate to the last-placed Inter Miami seven days ago.
Wayne Rooney’s men have also lost three of the last five away outings in the league, conceding at least two goals in each of these three defeats along the way.
The home win has to be the way to go at the 2.05 odds given the Revs have won four on the spin in Foxborough. They have been scoring for fun lately and we can hardly see DC’s back line slowing them down on Saturday.
We also like the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score pick at the odds of 2.00 knowing that each of the last six outings New England played finished with this scenario.
