Belarus and Estonia are practically out of the picture, and the qualification process essentially comes down to just three – Germany, Netherlands, and Northern Ireland. Of these lot, the first two were considered massive favorites to cruise through the tournament, but the entry of Irish has complicated things. This Thursday, with home advantage, to lean on, the Dutch will try to neutralize the Irish threat.

The Flying Dutchmen have two matches against this opponent remaining in the competition, and if they manage to win both, qualification would then just be a cakewalk. At present, Virgil van Dijk and his boys are placed third in the table but do have a match in hand.

They did lose against the Germans at home but responded in fantastic fashion by delivering a classic 2-4 win in German soil.

Opponents Northern Ireland did begin with four wins on the trot, but that was essentially due to the schedule doing them a favor, with them being pitted against Belarus, and Estonia twice each. The lucky run is now over, and the team is being exposed to the harsh realities of the group.

The Dutch contingent obviously has the home advantage, and they have a fantastic h2h record against this opponent. In fact, Netherlands have lost just five times in their previous twenty-five fixtures and won nine of their former nine in front of the home crowd. In addition, the team scored twice or more in ten of these eleven ties as well.

Furthermore, against this rival, who were winless in seven of their former nine games on the road, Ronald Koeman’s men have been unbeaten for the prior 55 years and registered a massive 6-0 win the last time they met.

By the looks of things, we are surely in for a great performance from the Oranje.
