Napoli vs Parma
Italy – Serie A
Date: Saturday, 14 December 2019
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Stadio San Paolo (Naples).
Seventh-placed Parthenopeans, with a new man in charge, are heavy favorites to land their first league win since October against tricky Parma.
Napoli (4-3-3): Meret – M.Rui, D.Lorenzo, Koulibaly, Manolas – Elmas, Allan, F.Ruiz – Zielinski, Lozano, Milik.
Parma (4-3-3): Sepe – Gagliolo, Darmian, Iacopini, Bruno Alves – Hernani, Brugman, Barila – Gervinho, Kulusevski, Cornelius.
Seventh placed Parthenopeans finally put an end to a winless streak across competitions that had lasted nine games by beating Racing Genk. A commanding 4-0 victory was not enough for Carlo Ancelotti to keep his job, though.
The three-time winning Champions League-manager got the sack and his former player, Gennaro Gattuso, took over. ‘Rino’, who coached Milan in the past, is probably a perfect short-term solution for an underachieving side as he brings passion and energy.
Napoli have a rather mediocre record at home – three wins, two draws and two defeats and 9:6 goal difference, scoring 1.29 goals per match and conceding 0.86. The Azzurri have collected just two points from their last three home fixtures.
Ghoulam, Malcuit are out with injuries, Maksimovic is suspended.
Parma bounced back from their worst performance of the season and nicked a narrow victory at Sampdoria, thanks to Juraj Kucka’s first-half goal. With the win-draw-loss record of 6-3-6, Roberto D’Aversa’s side is 8th on the ladder, tied with Napoli and seven points off of Europa League place.
The Gialloblu’s have claimed 8 points from last five league outings and will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run on the road to five games.
‘I Crociati’ logged two wins, three draws and two defeats away from home, netting and shipping same amount of goals – 1.29 per tie.
Karamoh, Kucka and Inglese are on the sidelines for the visiting team.
Everything is in place for an interesting battle at San Paolo.
Napoli are heavy favorites to land their first league win since 19 October under new manager, and I think they three points, but I’d rather hit goals market instead.
Parma have scored in 71% of their away matches and Azzurri have conceded 8 in their last 6 outings. With that in mind, BTTS – yes looks good at decent odds.
Gattuso is expected to implement 4-3-3 formation that should get the best out of several players, most notably Lozano and I’ll back ‘Chucky’ to increase his goal tally. Wait for the lineups for this one, though, as multiple players are in the running to flank Milik.
With a 2-1, 3-1 hunch, I’ll take over 2.5 goals as well.
