Morocco vs Colombia Prediction & Match Preview

Steffen Schmidt - August 2, 2023

Morocco vs Colombia
FIFA Women’s World Cup
Date: 3 August 2023, Thursday
Kick-off at 11:00 UK / 12:00 CET
Venue: Perth Rectangular Stadium (Perth).

Colombia made the biggest upset of the tournament so far on Sunday when they shocked Germany 2-1 to maintain the perfect record at the 2023 World Cup in Australia/New Zealand.

Las Cafeteras are thus all but through to the last 16 round of the competition as they need only a point on Thursday against group underdogs Morocco to lock in the top spot in the section.

The 18-year-old miracle Linda Caicedo produced yet another stunning display for her national side as she opened the scoring against the mighty Germans four days ago.

She was on target in both matches so far in the competition and we have all reasons to fancy her to shine again against the African outfit.

We also have to praise Colombia’s back line as the team are yet to concede a goal from open play. The only goal they allowed was the one by Alexandra Popp from the penalty spot late in the second round tie against Germany.

Morocco, on the other side, bounced back from the inaugural round catastrophe against Germany (a 0-6 defeat) by beating South Korea 1-0 in the second round.

The Atlas Lionesses pulled off a much better defensive performance as they closed the game after an early goal from Ibitssam Jraidi.

The team led by French manager Reynald Pedros are generally struggling for goals. They have been scoreless in six consecutive outings across competitions (including friendlies) before beating South Korea 1-0 on Sunday.

Morocco vs Colombia Prediction

Colombia left a much better impression so far in the tournament and we expect them to finish the group in style and advance to the knockout phase with maximum nine points collected. Morocco are struggling to create chances and we find Colombia to win to nil as the standout betting option here at the 2.10 odds.

Alternatively, we will back Linda Caicedo to score anytime for Las Cafeteras at the attractive 2.62 odds, knowing she was on target in each of the previous two affairs in the tournament.

Morocco vs Colombia Betting Tips

  • Colombia to win to nil @ 2.10 (11/10)
  • Linda Caicedo to score anytime @ 2.62 (13/8) odd.
