Steffen Schmidt - July 14, 2023
CF Montreal vs Charlotte
USA MLS
Date: 16 July 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 00:30 UK / 01:30 CET
Venue: Stade Saputo (Montreal).
Charlotte will travel north across the border to take on fellow Eastern Conference strugglers CF Montreal on Saturday evening at Stade Saputo.
This is the match between the worst defense in the entire MLS (Charlotte) and one of the least efficient offensive units in the league (CF Montreal).
Neither team will go into the tie on a high. CF Montreal well confounded their playoffs ambitions with a streak of three successive defeats.
They fell to the 10th place on the East and are now three points below Chicago Fire who hold the last play-in position.
CF Montreal have failed to find the back of the net in four consecutive affairs, including the mid-week’s 3-0 defeat at Chicago Fire.
However, it is also worth noting that the Canadian outfit have won eight of the last ten home matches in all competitions, conceding no more than two goals in the process.
Charlotte, on the other side, won just one of the last ten games in the league. They will enter this off the back of five consecutive draws, including a 2-2 stalemate at home against conference leaders Cincinnati last weekend.
We expect a tight affair between two struggling outfits on Saturday. The outcome of the game may have big implications in the overall playoffs picture with the two teams sitting lock on points as we get closer to the final stretch of the regular season.
Knowing CF Montreal have won eight of the last ten home outings in all competitions, we do like the home win pick at the 2.45 odds. Alternatively, the Under 2.5 goals FT pick is another decent option at the 2.05 odds.
