Aron Wright - April 10, 2020
FC Minsk vs BATE
Belarus – Vysshaya Liga
Date: Sunday, 12 April 2020
Kick-off at 13:00 UK/ 14:00 CET
Venue: Stadion Torpedo (Minsk).
Kirill Alshevsky’s men had finished second in the table the last season, and have a strong h2h record against this opponent. However, they have been struggling to perform well in the prior several match-days. And against the in-form Minsk, they are expected to have a tough outing this Sunday.
Alshevsky’s men have lost three of their prior four games, and they lost all of their matches on the road in the league this campaign. The sole win for the team this season had come against a recently-promoted Rukh Brest. They last kept a clean sheet away from home in October, and most importantly they had lost the latest meeting against this opponent.
On the other hand, Razin’s men have lost just once in the previous five months, and since May of 2019, they have been defeated in front of the home crowd just once. On top of that, home teams have been the better side in recent h2h fixtures. In fact, six of the former seven such matches had ended in wins for the sides that hosted the game.
As such, expect FC Minsk to put in the better performance.
However, understand that Alshevsky’s men are one of the best in the country, and have been so for quite some time. They had finished runners-up in the recently-concluded season, and they hold a phenomenal h2h record against this rival.
To be precise, Alshevsky’s men recorded 17 of the prior 19 overall h2h wins, 11 of the former 15 at this venue, and have scored two or more goals in five of the preceding seven h2h games at this ground. Likely, expect goals to come from both teams this weekend.
