Midtjylland return to domestic duties after a tough 3-0 defeat to PSV in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier. They host Vejle in the fourth round of Danish Superliga on Friday evening at MCH Arena.
Things did not go as planned for Midtjylland in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.
They suffered a demolishing 3-0 defeat to PSV on Tuesday evening in Eindhoven. It was a match Bo Henriksen and his men will want to forget as soon as possible.
Danish champions were completely outplayed on the occasion failing to record a single shot on target at Philips Stadion (PSV had 8).
Henriksen will be forced to make some changes to his starting line-up for Friday’ s domestic game against Vejle as his main stars have now regularly been in action every three days for the last three weeks.
He should give limited minutes to his main stars, Junior Brumado, Evander, and Anders Dreyer.
The circumstances around the match should thus give Vejle a chance for an unexpected break here.
Vejle did bounce back from a rather poor start to the season and back-to-back losses to Randers and SonderjyskE by clinching a point in a 2-2 draw to heavyweights Brondby on Sunday.
Midtjylland picked up two straight league wins without shipping a goal along the way. Although they suffered a tough loss to PSV on Tuesday, we see them as clear favorites to see off Vejle here.
The gulf in quality between the two outfits is enormous. Vejle conceded 20 goals in 6 away matches against Midtjylland. Also, the visitors failed to find the back of the net in two of three Superliga fixtures this season. Midtjylland to clinch a comprehensive clean-sheet win is the way to go for us.
