Peter Green - August 6, 2019
Midtjylland vs Rangers
Europa League Qualification
Date: Thursday, 8 August 2019
Kick-off at 19:00 UK / 20:00 CET
Venue: MCH Arena (Herning).
Midtjylland have begun their domestic campaign on a very positive note and are currently one of the only two teams to remain unbeaten. The squad picked up the win in their last clash at home thanks to a last gasp goal from Evander, and have now scored a total of five goals to their name while conceding just one.
Rangers picked up a 2-1 win in their opening game of the season, on the road, and have succumbed to defeat just once in their last six outings. The visitors held their foes Progres Niederkorn to a stalemate in the second leg of the tie, in the previous round, while at home they recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory to make it into the next stage.
Although the two sides are boasting of winning streaks of their own at the moment, the clash on Thursday looks likely to see Rangers edge it past the hosts by not more than a slender margin.
The hosts have registered a win in each of their last four games. However, Midtjylland have come out on top with a goal difference of not more than one goal in each of those matchups.
On the other hand, Steven Gerrard’s men are undefeated in their last five fixtures in all competitions and have won by a margin of two or more goals on three occasions. The guests have also bagged six goals in their last three clashes alone and were breached just once in the process.
Given the solid run of form that Rangers have been keeping up in their recent trips on the road, it looks more than likely that the away side will be able to walk away with the bragging rights in their maiden clash with the hosts this week.
Eight of the thirteen goals that the visitors have scored in their last five outings have come following the restart. Additionally, five of their previous six, have found their way into the back of the net in the latter forty-five minutes. So, expect the visitors to beat the keeper without fail in the second half.
