The Devils have been trying to get back to their glory days for quite a long time now. Several managers were tried by the management to fill the shoes of Sir Alex Ferguson. But no one has been able to make even a considerable impact in the right direction.
At present, Ole Solskjaer is managing to keep them afloat. But with a serious lack of consistency, there’s no telling for how long his reign is about to be.
The team did splash money in the transfer market this summer, and acquired some noted defenders, in hopes of curbing their problems at the back. The arrival of the duo of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Harry Maguire, surely has made an impact. But ever since, the frontline has failed to perform impressively.
In short, the fans, and especially the players are frustrated beyond a limit, and in all probability, we can see them taking it out on a poor squad from the League One.
Rochdale and the red Manchester side have been leagues apart for so long, that all they have to show for in their h2h history is a single encounter.
At present, the Dale is trying to avoid getting placed in the relegation zone in the League One, whereas, their counterparts, despite their struggles, are still considered to be a major threat in the top-most Premier League.
On top of that, the game is taking place at the Old Trafford, a venue that has given nightmares to even the best of teams in world football, let alone some mediocre players from the third tier.
Taking into account the determination of Ole’s men to get back on track, and the confidence they could gain from a massive win, backing the hosts to be incredibly dominating throughout the tie, is a realistic possibility.
