Steffen Schmidt - April 13, 2023
Manchester City vs Leicester
English Premier League
Date: 15 April 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 17:30 UK / 18:30 CET
Venue: Etihad Stadium (Manchester).
Manchester City return to domestic duties after Tuesday’s clash against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal.
The Citizens will be looking to extend their superb Premier League form on Saturday afternoon when they host relegation strugglers Leicester in Gameweek 31 at Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s men did not have any problems with Southampton last weekend, claiming a comfortable 1-4 victory at St. Mary’s Stadiu.
Erling Haaland returned to the starting lineup after a three-week absence. The Norwegian superstar marked his return with a brace.
It was the fifth league win on the bounce for Guardiola and his men who took advantage of Arsenal’s slip-up in the clash against Liverpool last Sunday to cut the gap to six points at the top of the standings.
The Citizens have a game in hand and the clash against Arsenal in Matchday No 33 as well, meaning they have the whole destiny in their hands in terms of the domestic silverware.
The story is completely different with Leicester who are now in genuine danger of getting dropped to second tier football.
The Foxes looked dreadful in a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth seven days ago. They did not create anything to threaten the Cherries in the 90 minutes of play at their King Power Stadium.
The only positive news for the Foxes ahead of this clash is that they at least have a new manager as Dean Smith was appointed on Monday afternoon.
The gulf in quality between the two teams is huge and we can’t expect anything other than a commanding victory for the hosts here. Leicester lost eight and drew one of the previous nine games across competitions, while Man City will enter this on the back of five successive Premier League victories.
Manchester City to win both halves is our main pick, while we will also take the Citizens to win by three or more goals difference at the 2.15 odds.
