Lokomotiv Moscow will have to wait till the end of this week to see if they can sit at the top of the table in the Russian Premier League 2021/22 season. The second runners-up of last season will lock horns with the reigning champions Zenit on Sunday at RZD Arena for the three points.
Zenit is already at the top of the table this term as it stands with nine points from three attempts. With that three-game winning streak, the intention of the host to defend the title is well expressed. They will visit on the back of a 3-2 win at home against the likes of Krasnodar in the last league clash.
Meanwhile, the home team dropped points in the recent encounter leading to trail by two points to the reigning champions on the table. The Loko is still unbeaten in the league with seven points in their three appearances so far this term. They will return home on the back of that 1-1 draw on the road with Ufa.
There is no doubt that the match is sizing to be a high-scoring affair. Also, there is a good chance to see the traveling side at the receiving end of the three points.
Zenit has won all three games so far and has averaged 3.3 goals in the league this term. As such, the away team will have an edge over the host in the encounter.
