Peter Green - February 20, 2019
Leeds vs Bolton
EFL Championship
Date: Saturday, 23rd February 2019
Kick-off at 15.00 UK/ 16.00 CET
Venue: Elland Road (Leeds).
A gift from the Gods for Leeds to assist them in their quest for the title. At home, they take on the worst side in the competition if not for Ipswich. Keep in mind that, while Leeds is one of the best of the 24 in participation, they are also one of the finest home teams.
Problems seem to compound for Bolton day after day. They are already deep in the relegation zone, and on top of that, they are taking a trip to West Yorkshire. The team has found it exceptionally hard to compete on the road, even a draw being an absolute rarity for them. Bolton fans should give this game a miss.
For a team right in the middle of a title run, this fixture is an absolute joy to wait for. The obvious home advantage notwithstanding, they are taking on one of the weakest teams in the competition, and one with a terrible away record nonetheless.
Even the h2h ties are greatly in favor of Leeds and note that the encounters in question, span more than two decades. The hosts will take this opportunity to record a huge win, which will also help them in improving their goal difference should it ever come to use. Right now, they are just two points away from the top-most position, and just marginally inferior goal difference keeps them from holding a direct promotion spot to the Premier League.
Bolton was winless in 14 of their last 15 away ties and lost seven of their last eight. They are in no shape to take on the hosts who were unvanquished in 18 of their last 22 attempts at this venue. Expect Leeds to dominate all through the game.
