Peter Green - January 14, 2019
Lebanon vs North Korea
AFC Asian Cup
Date: Thursday, 17th January 2019
Kick-off at 16.00 UK/ 17.00 CET
Venue: Sharjah Stadium (Sharjah).
The Group E standings put these teams at the bottom of the table. Neither has secured a single point yet in the competition, and more interestingly, nor have they scored a single goal.
The Cedars lost both their Asian Cup fixtures so far with a 0-2 scoreline. Though a worrying stat, comparatively they have had a better campaign than their rivals for this tie. Kim Yong-jun’s men did not even raise a finger in both of their ties and conceded a mammoth ten goals from those games.
It will be an interesting fixture as two of the worst groups in the Asian Cup go against each with a very outside chance of getting promoted to the next stage.
Chollima will find life hard in their last fixture in the Asian Cup. Their campaign has been such a disaster that they conceded goals at an average of five per game, and could not even return a single one. Their problems in front of the goal will continue, and the Cedars will keep a clean sheet as a result.
Along with the Korean side, the team captained by Hassan Maatouk too have not fared well at scoring. It’s true they might have limited the number of goals conceded to four from the previous two games. But the problem remains that they failed in finding the back of the net on both occasions.
It goes without saying that as two teams famed for problems in scoring, go at each other, the resulting tie will be a low goal-scoring affair. Expect under 2.5 match goals this Thursday.
