Two of the northern-most teams in the top-flight of Finnish football will lock horns on Wednesday afternoon in Gameweek No 10 at Vare Areena in Kuopio.
The current table-toppers KuPS are big favorites to keep their hot run of form going in the home clash against Oulu.
The hosts are flying high with eight wins in the last nine outings across competitions. Their lone slip-up has come just against the second-placed SJK and it was only a narrow 1-0 defeat on the road in late-May.
KuPS finished last season as runners-up, just one point shy of champions HJK. They had the best defensive record in the entire competition and they also own one of the best defensive lines this season as well.
Jani Honkavaara’s troops allowed only five goals in eleven matches so far in the season. Their defense will be under huge pressure, though, on Wednesday against Oulu whose strikers have been quite efficient of late as well.
The visitors enter this match on a high after winning five of the last six games in all competitions. They are fourth in the Veikkausliiga standings at the moment with just three losses in ten outings.
With all due respect to Oulu and their impressive spell of form in May, the quality is on KuPS’ side and we can’t back anything else but the home win here. After all, the hosts have won ten of the previous twelve head to head encounters with Oulu.
