Kolkata Knight Riders have finally ended their struggling form by securing a motivating 80-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their latest IPL game. It was their second win of the season and they’ll look for their third win on Tuesday when they host Lucknow Super Giants, who have also won two of their four games at the start.
Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants have faced each other five times in the IPL so far, with LSG dominating the head-to-head 3-2. Despite KKR’s rich history in the league, LSG has had the upper hand since their debut.
Three of these encounters were at Eden Gardens, KKR’s iconic home ground. However, even on their turf, KKR couldn’t capitalize, with LSG emerging victorious two times — including a nail-biting one-run win in 2023 that knocked KKR out of playoff contention.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi (KKR): Raghuvanshi has been the most consistent batsman in KKR’s top order. In the first four games, he scored at least 22, including three 30+ scores. His consistency is a key strength for KKR.
Varun Chakaravarthy (KKR): His performance in the last match against the strong batting lineup of SRH showed his talent well. He took 3 wickets for just 29 runs in 4 overs and even bowled a maiden over.
Nicholas Pooran (LSG): Pooran had his first low score of the season in the last match against Mumbai Indians, getting out for just 12 runs. Still, he leads the Orange Cap race with 201 runs from 4 matches.
These two teams are now tied on points in the standings. With two wins and two losses each, both sides will be eager to grab a win on Tuesday. So, we can expect a close and competitive match at Eden Gardens.
While Raghuvanshi has been solid for KKR, his highest score is only 50. On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran has already been among the top run-scorers in the Orange Cap race. With Mitchell Marsh also in good form, LSG is more likely to have the top batter in this match.
KKR’s top order hasn’t been consistent. In the last two matches, they lost their first wicket before reaching 15 runs. LSG, with a more stable top order, is expected to have a better start and score more runs before losing their first wicket.
