Holstein Kiel vs Sandhausen
Germany – 2. Bundesliga
Date: Tuesday, 4 May 2021
Kick-off at 16:30 UK/ 17:30 CET
Venue: Holstein-Stadion.
Kiel are chasing a spot in the playoffs, and are one of the best teams in the German second division. They easily are the favorites against the struggling Sandhausen, who are hanging by a thread over the relegation cut-off.
To explain further – Kiel have three games in hand, and need to make up a deficit of two points to be eligible for a ticket to the promotional playoffs, and need to make up a deficit of seven points to get directly promoted to the top flight.
Meanwhile, Sandhausen have a cushion of just one point over the relegation cut-off, and note that only one other squad has conceded more goals than them this season – the dead-last placed Wurzburger Kickers.
Note that Sandhausen also have a poor h2h record over the years against this foe as well – and particularly so at this stadium.
Thus, expect a Kiel win this Tuesday.
Sandhausen are on a ten-game losing run on the road, and they had lost all of their league fixtures away from home this season, barring their match-up against the dead-last placed Wurzburger Kickers.
On the other hand, their counterparts were unbeaten in 11 of their past 15 games, and they are on a four-fixture winning run at home. Note that they have lost at home just thrice this whole season.
Considering these observations, expect a Kiel victory this Tuesday.
