Peter Green - October 17, 2018
Holstein Kiel vs FC Koln
Germany – 2.Bundesliga.
Date: Saturday, 20 October 2018
Kick-Off at 12:00 UK/ 13:00 CET
Venue: Holstein-Stadion (Kiel).
Kiel team are currently placed at 11th in the table with 3 wins and as many losses. Tim Walter, appointed as head-coach in July 2018 has a tough task to emulate his predecessor who lead the Storks to third place finish last season.
Walter’s boys lost to FC Aue 2-1 in their previous fixture. They took lead early in first half but could not defend their goal. Alexander Muhling scored the only goal for Kiel.
In that match they gave away too many freekicks around the box and committed lot of individual errors in the second half which led to the goals. Possession was gifted to them by the opposition on many occasions but they failed to take advantage.
Muhling is the top scorer for Kiel with 3 goals.
Koln was relegated from Bundesliga last season after they ended up 18th in the table. The two-time Bundesliga champions are coached by Stefan Ruthenbeck. He replaced Markus Anfang this season after the disastrous performance.
The Billy goats are fresh from a 3-0 victory over Waasland-Beveren. Striker Terodde Simon is on blistering form. He netted 12 times in 8 games for the table toppers this season.
Koln looks the better team to win in light of their away record. Also the rate at which they are scoring poses a problem for home defense. They have to give up the habit of giving away fouls around the box.
With players like Simon around goals will be easier to come.
