Heracles and NEC Nijmegen will lock horns in the first game of Matchday No 2 of the 2023/24 Eredivisie campaign off the back of horrendous defensive showings on the opening day.
The teams have allowed four goals each in the first round of the season and it will be very interesting to see which of the two will be able to bounce back and get the maiden points on the board on Friday.
Heracles did break the deadlock in the road clash against Ajax but they marked the return to the top flight of the Dutch football with a tough 4-1 defeat in Amsterdam at the end.
To be fair, John Lammers’ men could have hardly hoped for much more against one of the strongest outfits in the competition.
They will now have a nice chance to rebound against NEC Nijmegen who suffered a shocking home defeat to Excelsior.
Despite being 1.44 favorites for the win ahead of the match, Rogier Meijer’s men dropped the lead on several occasions and eventually conceded four goals, including the 99th-minute decider, to lose 3-4 in front of the home fans.
The only bright thing to take from this game for Meijer and his troops is the fact they have extended the streak of matches with three or more goals scored to four, following three consecutive preseason wins over Altrincham, Al Taawon, and Venezia.
Heracles have a great chance to record their maiden win of the season against the leaky back line of NEC’s. We expect the local fans to create an electric atmosphere in the team’s maiden home match of the season upon returning to the elite class football.
The home win offers value at the 2.40 odds while we will also chase the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score bet at the 1.80 odds knowing how poor defensively both outfits have been so far this summer.
