Hammarby and Brommapojkarna will open Matchday No 12 of Swedish Allsvenskan on Friday afternoon with their small city derby at Tele2 Arena.
The two capital city clubs enter the tie in completely opposite spirits. Hammarby, who finished the last season in third place and who will play Europe this summer, are not pulling up any trees these days.
They have just one win in the previous eight league rounds and have dropped to 10th position in the standings as a consequence.
Marti Cifuentes’ job is thus well on the line, especially after two consecutive games without a goal scored against the likes of Varnamo and Halmstad.
Brommapojkarna, on the other side, come into this on the back of six victories, one draw, and one loss in the previous eight Allsvenskan games.
It is quite a sensational streak for a team that has just entered the top flight of Swedish football. Brommapojkarna immediately bounced back from the 1-2 home loss to Sirius by beating Norrkoping 0-2 on the road last Saturday.
They now have three wins in the last four league outings and they have notched at least two goals in each of these victories in the process.
Hammarby have an imperative to bounce back as soon as possible after a dreadful series of results in recent weeks. They still own a decent home record with three wins, one draw, and one defeat in five league matches in their own backyard this term.
