Hamburger SV vs VfB Stuttgart
German Bundesliga Playoffs
Date: 5 June 2023, Monday
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Volksparkstadion (Hamburg).
VfB Stuttgart made a huge step towards securing another top-flight campaign with a demolishing 3-0 victory over Hamburger SV on Thursday night in the first leg of the Bundesliga playoffs.
It was a one-way street from the very first whistle as VfB Stuttgart got in front in the very opening minute after a beautiful delivery from Borna Sosa and a goal from Konstantinos Mavropanos.
The team’s top scorer Serhou Guirassy missed a first-half penalty-kick but made amends nine minutes after the break, scoring his team’s third goal to set the final score.
Stuttgart could have easily gained a bigger advantage, especially after the 69th minute when Hamburg’s Anssi Suhonen got sent off.
The tie now moves to the Volksparkstadion where Hamburger SV have scored 14 goals in the previous four 2. Bundesliga outings.
They have also conceded at least a goal in each of these four affairs, meaning we should be in for a high-scoring clash on Monday night.
The hosts do not have anything to lose and should push hard for the early opener which brings some exciting first-half betting options into the mix.
The Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score pick has to be the way to go at the 1.83 odds based on the circumstances around the game as well as the fact we’ve seen goals at both ends in nine of the previous ten H2H affairs between these rivals.
Since Hamburger SV will likely push for an early opener to try and make things interesting in this tie at least, we see the value in backing the Over 1.5 goals in the first half pick at the 2.50 odds.
