Mexico are not just the defending champions of the competition, but they are the strongest team in the CONCACAF region, and also the most successful in Gold Cup history. They easily are the favorites this Thursday against minnows Guatemala.
Mexico are ranked 11th in the world, and are determined to make a deep run in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
Last time around they had created some major uproar after defeating Germany – who were then defending champions. And this loss played a huge role in Die Mannschaft crashing out in the first round.
The objective of Mexico will surely be to retain the Gold Cup, which would be a great step towards their preparation towards the showdown at Qatar.

By the looks of things, expect a huge win for Mexico this Thursday at the Cotton Bowl.
Guatemala are on a two-match losing run, and they were unbeaten in four of their past five fixtures. Note that they had also failed to score in three of their former five games.
On the other hand, their counterparts were unbeaten in 29 of their last 31 overall fixtures, and in the process, they had recorded separate seven-game and eleven-match winning streaks.
Importantly, they were held to a draw in their opener, and this has made the squad even more driven and determined to secure a win in this upcoming game at any cost.
