Peter Green - November 9, 2018
FC Groningen vs SC Heerenveen
Netherlands – Eredivisie
Date: Sunday, 11th November 2018
Kick-off at 11.15 UK/ 12.15 CET
Venue: Euroborg, Groningen.
The dead-last placed team in the Eredivisie hosts a mid-table team, SC Heerenveen, in the 12th round of the Netherlands first division football, at the Euroborg, this Sunday.
Groningen comes into the match high in confidence after recording an exciting victory over Excelsior last week in their league fixture. The final scoreline read 2-4. Two first-half goals, and two second-half goals, completed the day’s proceedings for Groningen. Excelsior never really had a chance in the match despite playing at home, and against the last team in the table. It was really a surprising result for everyone.
Heerenveen dropped the ball last week in their performance against Emmen, a relegation-battler, in spite of having the home crowd behind them. They let go of a golden opportunity to register three easy points on the board, and instead settled for one. The pain becomes more when the fact comes to light that, Heerenveen led from the 30th minute, before the visitors equalized in the dying minutes of the game.
Heerenveen has the higher probability to walk away with the win, or at least a draw, in this tie. Last five matches between these two teams have either been a draw, or an away win.
Heerenveen has been terrific on the road recently, with an unbeaten run of seven away games currently going on.
Groningen, on the other hand, has been terrible at home. They are right now on a streak of ten winless home ties.
Heerenveen’s nine of last 12 games saw over 2.5 goals. Six of last seven games between these two sides also had over 2.5 match goals.
Expect Heerenveen to get at least one point from this fixture. More than 2.5 match goals will be celebrated.
