Expect nothing less than a routine Real Madrid victory when they take the short trip to Getafe for weekend’s Spanish La Liga trip.
Real Madrid’s winning start to the season came to an end at Bernabeu last weekend, but they responded well with a 2-1 against Shakhtar on Tuesday.
Despite two different results in the space of four days, these matches were similar with Real totally dominating the game and squandering a chances.
At the same time, the trend of conceding easy goals continues and this could easily create a lot of problems while going against elite teams in Europe.
Coming back to La Liga, Carlo Ancelotti and his mean will be entirely focused on netting another three points to keep pace with Barcelona. Both Spanish giants are locked at 19 points from 7 games, the Catalunyan club are number 1 on goal difference.
Getafe on the other hand had a poor start to their La Liga campaign. With 2 wins and 1 draw from 7 games they are 14th in the table and 2 points above the relegation waters.
The main problem with them is a leaky defense, the same department which played a key role in securing results in the previous two campaigns. They have so far conceded 15 goals, the second worst in the league.
Scoring remains remain in the same range as in past two seasons and this is just above a goal per game and they are bound to face more troubles without tightening things at the back as season progresses.
Last season, Getafe won this corresponding home fixture 1-0. And this is their only win in this h2h fixture for 10 years. Real won 14 of the 17 fixtures during this period with two games ending in draw.
Despite the dominance, Real have failed to score in three of their last four visits to this ground. Obviously, this was the era when Getafe was defensively solid.
Real Madrid are expected to make the light work of struggling Getafe on Saturday night and we expect a high scoring affair with the defense of the host is a big downgrade of what it used to be in the previous seasons.
For the same reason, we will back Real Madrid to win the first half for 2.05 odds, which is our value bet selection for this La Liga tie. Meanwhile, there is a safe option in backing the over 2.5 goals priced at 1.80 odds, the same happened in six straight games for the all Whites prior to last weekend’s clash with Osasuna.
Karim Benzema failed to find the back of the net in his two appearances since returning from injury, though he often found himself in excellent positions and he is our pick to score two or more goals at the Alfonso Perez on Saturday.
