Fylkir vs KR Reykjavik
Icelandic Besta deildin
Date: 1 June 2023, Thursday
Kick-off at 20:15 UK / 21:15 CET
Venue: Wurth vollurinn (Reykjavik).
KR Reykjavik will be searching for their fourth subsequent win on Thursday evening when they take on local rivals Fylkir in the 10th round of Icelandic Besta deildin.
KR got off to a super-slow start to the season but they seem to have found the right formula in the second half of May, winning each of their last three outings.
The streak has begun just against Fylkir as KR celebrated a 3-4 victory at Wurth vollurinn in the last 16 round of Icelandic Cup.
Interestingly, KR Reykjavik own the second-worst attacking record in the league with six goals scored in nine matches and yet they have managed to find the back of the net four times in a single cup affair against Fylkir.
Fylkir’s lack of defensive meticulousness certainly has a lot to do with such a result because the hosts do have the second-worst defensive record in the league with 19 goals conceded in 9 outings.
Fylkir have just returned to the elite tier of Icelandic football this season. They clearly do not have what it takes to resist defensively against the top-notch teams in the country.
Runar Pall Sugmundsson’s men do compensate this with strong attacking displays, though. This is why you should not be surprised to know that the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score pick landed in each of Fylkir’s previous six matches in all competitions.
Fylkir do not play defense at all these days. KR Reykjavik go into this on the back of three straight wins across competitions and they have been the dominant force in the history of this matchup.
The away win is thus the way to go at the 2.35 odds, while we also like the Over 3.5 goals FT pick at the 2.20 odds.
