Frosinone vs Palermo
Italian Serie B Play-off Final Second Leg
Date: Saturday, 16 June 2018
Kick-Off 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Stadio Benito Stirpe, Frosinone.
Palermo made home advantage pay on Wednesday evening when they managed to see off Frosinone 2-1 in front of the home crowd to raise the spirits ahead of the trip to Stadio Benito Stirpe for the reverse fixture. It did not, however, go smooth for Roberto Stellone’s troops ta Renzo Barbera as Canarini got off to a dream start when their top scorer Camillo Ciano broke the deadlock just five minutes into the game.
Nevertheless, Rosanero proved their mental strength to come back from such deficit and turn things around later on. First it was their star man Antonino La Gumina who levelled the score just before the break, while Terranova’s own goal made the difference nine minutes from time. La Gumina thus kept his phenomenal spell of form going netting his seventh goal in last ten matches for Palermo and there are no doubts he will be a major danger in the rematch at Stadio Benito Stirpe as well.
Moreno Longo’s men were denied the automatic promotion by the head to head record. Can they capitalize on a decent campaign th3ey’ve had throughout the season with a massive victory over Palermo in the final action of the season in Serie B here?
Both the H2H record and the recent form speak in Palermo’s favour as the visitors are undefeated in last seven matches in the competition. Canarini, on the other side, lost just one of last eight on the home court and they will rely on the electrifying atmosphere expected to be seen at Stadio Benito Stirpe on the day.
The stakes can hardly be greater which is why we believe this will be a very nervous and tight affair with very few goal-scoring chances. The value is decent in backing the Under 2.5 goals FT bet at 1.75 odds, while we will also go with no goals in the first half at 2.70.
