Steffen Schmidt - July 27, 2023
France vs Brazil
FIFA Women’s World Cup
Date: 29 July 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 11:00 UK / 12:00 CET
Venue: Brisbane Stadium (Brisbane).
France and Brazil will lock horns in a proper football classic in the second round of Group F at the 2023 World Cup.
Les Bleus will be looking to make amends after a shockingly subpar performance on the opening day when they failed to break the deadlock against the likes of Jamaica.
Herve Renard’s troops had to settle for a goalless draw on the occasion and they now have to be very careful because a potential defeat to Brazil may put them in a very difficult situation.
France clearly have issues with the lack of attacking creativity because they have also failed to score in the final pre-World Cup check, falling 0-1 to Australia earlier this month.
The same can’t be said for Brazil who started the tournament with a fabulous performance in a 4-0 drubbing of Panama.
The Brazilians controlled the happenings on the pitch from the start to the end, registering as many as 33 shots towards the rivals’ goal on the occasion.
We must particularly praise Ary Borges who starred with a hat-trick on Monday. Borges seems to be on a hot run of form and she is our favorite suggestion for the anytime goalscorer pick on Saturday.
Moving forward, we also must praise Brazil’s attack in friendlies this summer as Pia Mariane Sundhage’s girls notched six goals in the wins over Germany and China before the start of the World Cup.
Brazil enter this tie in much higher spirits and we expect them to take advantage of momentum and pick up the important victory to confirm the top spot in the group.
You can back the South American outfit at the 2.75 odds. Alternatively, we will back the red-hot Ary Borges to score anytime at the 4.33 odds.
