Fenerbahce vs Bursaspor
Turkey – Super Lig
Date: Saturday, 11 August 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Istanbul.
Fenerbahce will start the new Super Lig campaign in the midst of a Champions League qualifications tie with Portuguese Benfica.
The Yellow Canaries were completely outplayed by the Primeira Liga runners-up on Tuesday evening at Estadio da Luz, but they managed to hold on to only a narrow 1-0 loss, leaving it all wide open ahead of the return fixture at Sukru Saracoglu.
Given that the potential progress to the UCL group stage remains the primary goal at this stage, we certainly expect the new head coach Philip Cocu to make some changes to the squad which started the clash in the Portuguese capital.
The likes of Mathieu Valbuena, Nabil Dirar and Giuliano could easily be rested for the Bursaspor tie given the victory should not come in question either way as the Green Crocodiles were one of the weakest travellers in the league last year.
Bursa picked up four consecutive clean sheet wins in the pre-season, but the opposition included lower.-division outfits in all of the matches in the process.
As soon as they’ve encountered the top flight opposition, the streak came to an end. It happened in team’s last check before the start of the season as Bursa fell 0-2 at home to league newcomers Ankaragucu.
Fenerbahce are massive favourites due to the obvious difference in quality as well as the fact they’ve dominated the H2H match-up with the Green Crocodiles.
Since Cocu is expected to mix up his starting line-up, we don’t expect an exciting contest to offer more than three goals which is why the Under 3.5 goals FT looks decent at 1.50 odds.
HT/FT Fenerbahce/Fenerbahce @ 2.00
