Peter Green - August 11, 2019
FC Rostov vs Krylya Sovetov
Russia – Premier League
Date: Monday, 12 August 2019
Kick-off at 18:00 UK / 19:00 CET
Venue: Rostov Arena (Rostov).
FC Rostov are one of the only two teams to be unbeaten in the league at present and have failed to pick up a win just twice in their last four games. The squad’s last matchup on the road saw them hold Ural to a 2-2 draw, thanks to two second-half goals courtesy of Shomurodev and Sigurdarson.
Although Krylya Sovetov got off to an impressive start in their opening game with a 2-0 win over CSKA Moscow at home, the visitors have not been able to recreate a winning run of form since, and are on a dismal losing streak with three successive defeats. The team’s last clash with Lokomotiv Moscow on home soil saw them succumb to a 2-1 scoreline at the last blast of the whistle.
With the ways things are going right now for Krylya Sovetov, a win for them this weekend at the Rostov Arena seems far from likely.
The hosts are off to a fine start and have proved their worth both on the road and at home. The home team are unbeaten in their campaign on home soil and have not tasted defeat in their last three games at this venue.
Additionally, Rostov have been clinical in the attacking third and have already amassed four goals to their name from their last two clashes alone. On the other hand, their counterparts are without a win in their only outing so far.
Given that the visitors are struggling to get back on their feet from the three straight defeats that they were handed, the win and the three points for FC Rostov is certainly in the reckoning.
The away side have not gone down without a fight, and have six goals in the bag from four games to prove that statement. Considering that Rostov have not been able to keep a clean sheet in any of their clashes either, we can expect goals down each end, by the end of the ninety minutes.
