Steffen Schmidt - March 16, 2023
FC Emmen vs Sparta Rotterdam
Dutch Eredivisie
Date: 18 March 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 17:45 UK / 18:45 CET
Venue: De Oude Meerdijk (Emmen).
FC Emmen celebrated a huge 2-0 win over direct relegation rivals Excelsior in the last weekend’s relegation six-pointer at De Oude Meerdijk.
It was the maiden win in the last eight games across competitions for Dick Lukkien and his troops.
Ole ter Haar Romeny was Emmen’s hero with his second-half brace seven days ago. Lukkien’s men are now finally in the safe zone, sitting one point above Excelsior.
Nevertheless, FC Emmen will find it very difficult to back up this victory on Saturday afternoon as they take on the in-form Sparta Rotterdam side in Gameweek 26.
Sparta are enjoying one of the best campaigns in the last couple of decades. They are currently sixth in the Eredivisie standings, sitting eleven points above RKC Waalwijk in eighth place.
Maurice Steijn’s men will thus certainly be in contention for European positions next season. They will enter this match in high spirits after netting seven goals in the back-to-back wins over Excelsior and Vitesse in the last two rounds.
Sparta had as many as ten shots on target in the 3-1 win over Vitesse last Saturday. They should have plenty of space to operate in the final third here against FC Emmen who have been horrendous defensively since the beginning of the season.
Sparta Rotterdam have been scoring goals at will lately and they will have a great chance to maintain the strong spell of form with the third win on the spin against the struggling FC Emmen on Saturday.
The value is great with the away win bet at the 2.70 odds. We also like the 1.80 odds offered for the Both Teams To Score pick.
