Steffen Schmidt - February 23, 2023
FC Emmen vs Go Ahead Eagles
Dutch Eredivisie
Date: 26 February 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 13:30 UK / 14:30 CET
Venue: De Oude Meerdijk (Emmen).
Emmen shared spoils with Groningen in a 1-1 draw on the road in the last weekend’s relegation six-pointer.
It was a nervous game with four yellow cards for FC Emmen, including two for Mike te Wierik. It was also the fifth consecutive league match without a victory for Dick Lukkien and his troops.
FC Emmen are third from bottom in the Eredivisie standings with only 3 wins in the opening 22 games of the season.
They are three points below the safe zone line and they are about to play another super-important game against bottom-half rivals Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday afternoon at De Oude Meerdijk.
Go Ahead will enter the match in much higher spirits after shutting down Twente in a 2-0 victory seven days ago at De Adelaarshorst.
Rene Hake’s men are now eight points clear of Emmen in the relegation playoffs position and anything but a defeat would work just fine for them on Sunday.
The problem for Hake is his team’s form on travels because Go Ahead Eagles have suffered four subsequent defeats in away games in the league. They have scored just two goals in the process.
We expect a tight and nervous affair in a super-important clash for both outfits. We can’t see too many goal-scoring chances in these circumstances.
The Under 2.5 goals FT is the best betting option at the 1.70 odds, while we will alternatively shoot for the 1-1 correct score bet at the 6.00 odds.
