Steffen Schmidt - September 7, 2023
Exeter vs Leyton Orient
English League One
Date: 9 September 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: St James Park (Exeter).
Exeter got off to a promising start to the 2023/24 League One campaign as they are joint-leaders after six rounds with four wins, one draw, and one defeat along the way.
They will have a great opportunity to extend the three-win streak on Saturday afternoon in the home fixture against recently-promoted Leyton Orient at St James Park.
The hosts own the joint-best defensive record in the league with just two goals allowed in the inaugural six games of the season.
They will go into this on the back of a 0-1 road win at Burton Albion from last weekend as Ryan Trevitt’s second goal of the season made all the difference on the occasion.
Trevitt and company will have plenty of room to deliver here against Leyton Orient who have conceded league-high 11 goals in the opening six games of the campaign.
The team led by Richard Wellens will obviously need some time to adjust to life in higher division as their back line does not seem to have capacity to deal with the League One forwards.
Leyton will enter this off the back of a tough 0-3 home defeat to Stevenage. They were also in action on Tuesday evening, falling 2-1 away at Gillingham in the EFL Trophy group phase affair.
The home win pick has to be the way to go at the 1.80 odds based on everything we have seen from these two sides so far in the season.
Also, since Leyton’s own the worst defensive record in the division, we will alternatively back the hosts to bag two or more goals on Saturday at the 1.90 odds.
