Steffen Schmidt - August 11, 2023
Eupen vs Club Brugge
Belgian First Division A
Date: 13 August 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Stadion am Kehrweg (Eupen).
Club Brugge got their maiden league win under Ronny Deila last Sunday when they dispatched Westerlo 0-1 on the road.
It was a fantastic display from Deila’s troops who controlled the game from the first to the final whistle as Hans Vanaken beautifully orchestrated the tempo of the match.
Vanaken registered an assist for the only goal of the game scored by Igor Thiago. The Brazilian forward was thus on target in both of his team’s league matches at the start of the new season (he is currently the only goalscorer in Club Brugge in Firsz Division A).
After a home clash against Icelandic side KA Akureyri on Thursday night in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round, Club Brugge will be looking to back up the mentioned win in First Division A Matchday No 3 tie against Eupen.
Although they are big favorites according to the bookmakers, Deila’s squad will need to produce a 100% serious performance here knowing Eupen are yet to lose a game this summer.
The team led by German manager Florian Kohfeldt have had an amazing preseason with three consecutive wins over the likes of Charleroi, Reims, and Marseille.
They’ve stunned last year’s runners-up Genk 0-1 on the road last weekend in the league as well, a result that followed the opening day’s 2-2 stalemate against Westerlo at Stadion am Kehrweg.
The visitors enter this as big favorites and we expect them to justify the tag in what should be a high-scoring affair knowing each of the last six head to head outings between these rivals provided three or more goals.
We will take the Away win & Over 2.5 goals Ft pick as the main option at the 2.20 odds while you can alternatively get the same odds for the in-form striker Igor Thiago to score anytime.
